Tillskärarakademin in Gothenburg
School of fashion and stage costume
Tillskärarakademin in Gothenburg is situated in the centre of Gothenburg. We offer programmes in textile handcraft professions within fashion and stage costumes, focused on quality, aesthetics and sustainability. Sewing and pattern design is at the heart of what we do, which we have trained students in since 1947, when Elsa Harms-Kroon founded the school.
We offer one foundation programme and four Higher Vocational Education-programmes à 1-3 years, supervised and funded by the Administrative Authorities of Higher Vocational Education-universities. We also offer a broad range of courses suitable for you who want to try this discipline or deepen your knowledge within the area.
Our students are curious about their history, their contemporary context and their future, and together we explore new perspectives within our area, working towards a more sustainable fashion industry and stage art. At Tillskärarakademin, you will have the opportunity to develop your handcrafting skills as well as your sense for form in a highly creative environment.
Upon graduating, you will have acquired a steady foundation on which to stand and methods to apply to any future challenges you might encounter in your professional life. You can also choose to continue onto more advanced studies. Many of our graduate students start their own businesses, or are employed by one of the many clothing companies, fashion houses, tailors, theatres and opera houses located in Sweden and Europe.
All of our fulltime-programmes are taught in Swedish. For further information, please contact the school.
